SIGN OUR OPEN LETTER
Asking our local MP's to support the proposed "Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Sanctions Bill".
Palestine Human Rights Campaign Waikato (PHRCW) has been advocating for Palestinian justice, human rights and a lasting peace solution since 2014. We are a culturally diverse community of humanitarians, based in Kirikiriroa, sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinian people. Our aim is to promote the end of the occupation of Palestine. Public education, awareness and lobbying the NZ government are the ways we are working to help achieve this.
Asking our local MP's to support the proposed "Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Sanctions Bill".
Solidarity and Support
We are building a community of respect, solidarity and support. We accomplish this by listening to each other, supporting each other emotionally, being respectful of people's physical boundaries, respecting all of the voices involved in our movement and providing assistance to those in need.
Non-aggression
Participants should refrain from engaging in physical violence, verbal abuse, or aggressive behavior towards others, including counter-protesters, law enforcement officials, or bystanders.
De-escalation
Use de-escalation techniques to defuse tense situations and prevent conflicts from escalating. This can include using calm and respectful verbal and body language, stepping back from confrontations, and encouraging others to do the same.
Respect for Property
Participants must respect public and private property during our rallies and events. This includes refraining from vandalism, graffiti, or other forms of property damage that can detract from the message of the demonstration.
Respect our Kaitiaki
Kaitiaki are our peacekeeping teams we have established to help maintain order and resolve conflicts peacefully. These volunteers are trained in de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
Legal Observers
Legal observers will be present to monitor and document any instances of police misconduct or violations of protesters' rights. Please cooperate with legal observers and report any incidents of harassment or abuse from outside or within our group.
Sign our open letter to local MP's Tama Potaka, Ryan Hamilton and Tim van de Molen, calling on our government to follow international law by supporting the Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Bill, proposed by the Green party. We will be presenting this letter to these MP's along with a delegation from our community.
